Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial interprets the Battle of Lake Erie and the later peace among the United States, Canada, and Britain. The National Park Service says the plazas, rotunda, and observation deck are inaccessible throughout the 2026 and 2027 seasons during Upper Plaza Rehabilitation; the visitor center and grounds remain available subject to current hours and conditions.
Kelleys Island
Kelleys spreads its main stops across a larger island
Kelleys Island State Park, beaches, glacial features, quarry history, village stops, and quiet roads spread the day beyond one harbor block. Bikes and golf carts can fit the scale, but weather, road comfort, age, and rental terms should decide the vehicle.
The famous glacial grooves are an exposed geologic site, not an activity requiring a long hike. Pair them with the state park, shoreline, and village rather than overselling the stop as a full-day attraction by itself.
On the water
Terminal, parking, and the final return matter more than crossing time
A short-looking ferry ride still needs parking, ticketing, boarding, and possible lines. Save the exact terminal address and operator; Sandusky, Port Clinton, Marblehead, and the island docks are not substitutes.
Lake Erie can feel cooler and windier than downtown. Carry a light layer, sun protection, water, and only the bags the group can move easily. Bikes, coolers, pets, carts, vehicles, and accessibility assistance each have operator-specific rules.
